A message says you have an unpaid traffic fine and asks you to pay through a link or an app file.

How it works

  1. An SMS or WhatsApp says your vehicle has an unpaid e-challan, often with your real vehicle number.
  2. The link or an attached app file asks you to pay a small fine or to install an "e-challan" app.
  3. The payment page captures your card details, or the app reads your messages and OTPs.

What it looks like

Example messages. Numbers and links are masked.
