ScamBhai

Terms of use

Last updated 25 October 2026.

These terms apply when you use ScamBhai at scambhai.com. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

1. What ScamBhai is

ScamBhai gives an automated opinion on whether a message looks like a scam, explains common scams and hosts an anonymous community. A result is not a guarantee, a verification or legal, financial or professional advice, and ScamBhai never certifies a message as safe. Always confirm with the bank, company or office through a number or app you find yourself before you pay, share a code or install anything. If you have lost money, call 1930 and report at cybercrime.gov.in.

2. Using the site fairly

Use ScamBhai for yourself and to help others. Do not run automated or bulk checks, copy the site's content in bulk, try to get past its limits or security, use it to test or improve scams, or upload anything unlawful. In the community, do not post other people's personal details, abuse or threaten anyone, advertise, or offer to recover money. We may remove content, limit use or block access to protect people and the service. Content that breaks the law may be reported to the authorities, and posting it can lead to penalties under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and other laws. Everyone who posts is reminded of these rules each time, above the post box.

3. What you post

You keep the rights to what you write. By posting, you allow ScamBhai to publish it, mask personal details in it, translate it, and use it in anonymous form to write the scam guide and the anonymous statistics described in the privacy notice. You are responsible for what you post. Anyone can ask for a post to be removed through the Grievance Officer.

4. Family Shield

Family Shield lets an adult get an alert when a family member, having agreed, checks a message on ScamBhai that scores high. The person who sets it up must be 18 or over and must have the family member's agreement. The family member is asked before any alert is sent and can switch alerts off at any time. Alerts show ScamBhai's result, never the family member's message.

Family Shield is provided without charge at present. If paid options are introduced, their prices and terms will be published here before anyone is asked to pay. Alerts depend on the phone, its browser and its notification service, so we cannot promise that every alert arrives, and Family Shield does not replace talking to your family about scams.

5. Payments and refunds

ScamBhai takes no payments at present. If paid options are introduced, payments will be taken by Razorpay, prices will be in Indian rupees including any taxes, and refunds will follow the cancellation and refund policy. Refunds of earlier payments follow the same policy.

6. Data feed for institutions

Banks, payment companies, insurers, security firms and the authorities can receive anonymous scam patterns under a separate written licence. That licence, not these terms, governs their use of the feed.

7. Our content

The site, its design, the scam guide and the trends belong to ScamBhai. You may share guide pictures, warnings and trend figures to raise public awareness, without charge, if you credit ScamBhai and do not change their meaning. Anything else needs our permission.

8. Responsibility

We work hard to keep ScamBhai accurate and available, but it is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss that follows from relying on a result, a guide entry, a community post or an alert, or from the site being unavailable. Where the law does make us responsible, our total responsibility is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that the law does not allow to be limited.

9. Changes and ending

We may change these terms, the service or the prices. Changes will be posted on this page with a new date before they take effect. You can stop using ScamBhai at any time.

10. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have jurisdiction, subject to any right you have under consumer protection law to approach a forum near you.

Grievance Officer

The quickest way to complain is the complaint form: it gives you a reference number at once, and urgent complaints are reviewed first. Where an automatic first check finds that a post plainly shows private details, an intimate image or an impersonation, the post may be hidden at once until the Grievance Officer decides; other complaints are reviewed within the time below. Complaints about anything on ScamBhai, including a request to remove a community post, a privacy request or a payment problem, can also go to the Grievance Officer: B. Parikh, scambhai@proton.me. The Grievance Officer also answers questions about how ScamBhai handles personal data. Please write rather than call where you can, and remember this is not a helpline for recovering money: for that, call 1930. We acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours. A request to remove content is resolved within 36 hours and any other complaint within 7 days. A complaint that a post shows intimate images of someone or impersonates a person is decided within 2 hours, and one that a post exposes someone's private information as soon as we can and within 36 hours. Orders from a court or an authorised government officer are acted on within 3 hours. If you are not satisfied with our answer about your personal data, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
