Cash-on-delivery parcel you did not order
A delivery agent brings a parcel you never ordered and asks for cash; the box contains something worthless.

How it works
- A delivery person comes to your door with a cash-on-delivery parcel addressed to you or a family member, for a few hundred or a few thousand rupees.
- They say someone at home must have ordered it, and press you to pay quickly because they have many more deliveries.
- After they leave, the box holds a cheap item, a stone or nothing useful, and the number on the parcel does not work.

Parcel for Mr Sharma, cash on delivery Rs 1,499. Your son must have ordered it. Please pay fast, I have 40 more deliveries.
Return is not possible, the order is already shipped. Pay now and you can complain to the company later. (said at the door)
Red flags
- Nobody at home remembers ordering it
- Pressure to pay quickly at the door
- Not allowed to open the box first
- No order in anyone's shopping app
The one question to ask
Can you find this order in the shopping app of anyone at home?
Already paid or shared details?
Note the delivery person's name and phone number and the details on the parcel, and keep the packaging. File a complaint at your local police station or at cybercrime.gov.in, and call 1930 if you paid by UPI or card.
