Spoof payment app showing a fake success screen
A customer uses an app that mimics a payment app and shows a convincing success screen and sound without paying.

How it works
- A customer picks up goods and "pays" with an app that looks exactly like a well-known payment app.
- The app shows a green success screen with your shop's name and a reference number, and may even play a payment sound.
- No money reaches your account, and the customer leaves before you check.
What it looks like

Payment successful. Rs 2,340 paid to Gupta Kirana Store. UPI Ref 4127XXXX9856 (shown on the customer's phone, with a payment sound)
Bhaiya, see, paid. Your sound box must be slow, it will come in some time.
Red flags
- Sound comes from their phone, not your soundbox
- Customer flashes the screen and rushes off
- No alert in your own app or bank
- "Server is slow, it will come" excuses
The one question to ask
Did your own soundbox or payment app confirm the money, not the customer's phone?
Already paid or shared details?
Note the time, the amount and any CCTV footage, and file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in or at your local police station. Hand over goods only after the payment shows in your own app or soundbox.
