Screen-sharing app "support" call
A caller from a bank, an app or a company asks you to install a screen-sharing app to fix a problem, and then takes over your phone.

How it works
- A caller posing as support from your bank, a payment app, a courier or a telecom company says there is a problem with your account or refund.
- You are asked to install a screen-sharing app and read out the code so that they can "help".
- They watch you type passwords and OTPs, or act on your phone directly, and move your money.
What it looks like
Example messages. Numbers and links are masked.
Sir, your KYC is incomplete. Please install AnyDesk from Play Store and tell me the 9-digit code.
For your refund, download the QuickSupport app so our technician can process it.
Red flags
- A request to install a screen-sharing or remote app
- A request to read out a code
- Support that called you first
- A promise of a refund or a fix
The one question to ask
Has any bank ever needed to see your phone screen?
Already paid or shared details?
Switch off mobile data and Wi-Fi, uninstall any app they made you install, and call your bank on the number on your card to block cards and UPI. Change your banking and email passwords from a different phone. If any money has left, call 1930 at once.
