"Rent your bank account" or commission offer
You are paid a commission to let money pass through your bank account or UPI ID, which makes you part of a fraud.
Community reports: 0
How it works
- A stranger or acquaintance offers easy commission for "receiving payments" for a business or a gaming company.
- Money from fraud victims lands in your account, and you are told to forward it on, keeping a small cut.
- When victims complain, your account is frozen and you face a police case, while the organisers stay hidden.

Red flags
- Being paid to receive and forward money
- Requests for your debit card, passbook or SIM
- No real job, only "transactions"
- Instructions to withdraw cash quickly
The one question to ask
Why would a real business need your personal bank account to move its money?
Already paid or shared details?
Stop at once and do not forward any more money. Inform your bank in writing that your account was misused, and report at cybercrime.gov.in. Getting ahead of it helps, because the account holder is the first person the police reach.
