Multi-level marketing that pays only for recruits
A business opportunity earns mainly by recruiting others who pay to join, not by selling products.
Community reports: 0
How it works
- A friend, relative or social media contact invites you to a meeting or webinar about a "business opportunity", with talk of cars, foreign trips and passive income.
- To join, you must pay a fee or buy a costly product pack, and you are told you will earn by adding people below you.
- Real sales are hard, earnings come only from new recruits, and when joining slows you lose your money along with the trust of the people you brought in.
What it looks like
Example messages. Numbers and links are masked.
Be your own boss! Join with a Rs 25,000 product kit, add just 2 people, and they add 2 each. In 6 months you earn Rs 1 lakh a month passive income.
Don't talk about the product, talk about the plan. The money is in your team, not in selling. (said at a meeting)
Red flags
- Earnings explained through recruits, not sales
- A costly joining kit or package
- Pressure to recruit family and friends
- Shows of cars, trips and big cheques
- Products priced well above shop prices
The one question to ask
If nobody new joins, how would you earn back your money?
Already paid or shared details?
Stop recruiting others and keep all receipts, invoices and messages. File a complaint with your local police, and at cybercrime.gov.in if you paid online.
