Fake government tender or supplier registration fee

A website or email offers a government tender or supplier registration for a fee, on a copy of an official portal.

Community reports: 0

How it works

  1. An email or website made to look like a government procurement portal invites you to bid for a tender or register as an approved supplier.
  2. It asks for a registration fee, tender fee or "earnest money deposit" through a link or to a bank account, along with company documents.
  3. The money goes to the scammer, no tender exists, and your documents may be misused.

What it looks like

Example messages. Numbers and links are masked.

Dear Vendor, your firm is shortlisted for supply of office furniture to the district office, value Rs 48 lakh. Pay tender fee Rs 15,000 and EMD Rs 50,000 at govt-tender-registration[.]in

Supplier registration open for railway contracts. Limited seats. Registration Rs 7,500, certificate issued in 24 hours.

Red flags

  • Shortlisted for a tender you never bid on
  • Link not found on the department's own site
  • Fee paid to a private account
  • "Limited seats" or same-day deadline

The one question to ask

Does the same tender appear on the department's official website when you search for it yourself?

Already paid or shared details?
