A notice with court or lawyer branding claims an unpaid loan and offers settlement by immediate transfer.

How it works
- A WhatsApp message or email carries a "legal notice" with a court emblem, lawyer's stamp or police seal, saying you owe money on a loan.
- It warns of arrest, seizure of property or a court case unless you settle today, and offers a "one-time settlement" by transfer.
- The money goes to a personal account, and more notices follow for "penalties" or "closing charges".

The one question to ask
When you contact the lender yourself, on a number from your loan papers or its own website, does this loan and amount actually exist?
Already paid or shared details?
Call 1930 at once: in the first hour the money can often still be frozen before it moves on. Then call your bank on the number printed on your card, and file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in with screenshots of every message and payment.
