Paid online course with a "job guarantee"
A course promises a guaranteed job or refund, takes a large fee or a loan in your name, and the guarantee never applies.

How it works
- Ads and "success stories" promise a high-paying job after a short course in coding, data, digital marketing or aviation, with a full refund if you are not placed.
- A counsellor pushes you to pay a large fee at once, or starts a loan or "no-cost EMI" in your name on the same call.
- After the course, the job help is weak, the refund conditions are almost impossible to meet, and you are left repaying the loan.

Red flags
- "100% job guarantee" in the ad
- A loan or EMI started during the call
- Discount or seat "only for today"
- Refund rules not given in writing
- Quick request for PAN and Aadhaar
The one question to ask
Have you read the refund conditions in writing, and do you know whether a loan is being taken in your name?
Already paid or shared details?
Ask for the refund conditions and the loan papers in writing, and keep every message and receipt. If a loan was opened in your name without your clear consent, write to the lender at once and check whether it is on the RBI's list of regulated lenders. If you were cheated of money, file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in.
