Request to dial a call forwarding code
A caller asks you to dial a short code to fix a network or delivery issue, which forwards your calls and OTPs to them.

How it works
- A caller posing as a courier, mobile network or bank executive says there is a problem with your parcel, network or account.
- To "fix" it, he asks you to dial a short code, such as one starting with *21* or *401*, followed by a number he gives you.
- This quietly forwards your calls to him, so he receives OTP calls and bank calls, and can take over your WhatsApp or bank account.

- A stranger's number inside the code
- Insists you do it while on the call
- Calls suddenly stop reaching your phone
The one question to ask
Why would fixing a parcel or network need you to dial a code with a stranger's number in it?
Already paid or shared details?
Ask your mobile operator at once to remove all call forwarding on your number, and call your bank on the number on your card to block cards and UPI. Log in to WhatsApp again on your own phone. If money has left, call 1930 and file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in.
